Guess the city from above
An aerial image of a city somewhere on Earth. Five tries to name it. Every wrong guess zooms the camera out and shows you more.
How it works
- You start close in, looking straight down, over a recognisable spot: a square, a station, a river bend.
- Type the city. Wrong? The camera climbs and the photo covers more ground.
- By the fifth try you see the whole city. Solve it to tick it off; your stats are saved on your device.

How to recognise cities from aerial images
- Street grid: perfect grids suggest the Americas or a planned city; tangled lanes suggest an old European, Middle Eastern or Asian core.
- Roofs: terracotta tiles point to southern Europe or Latin America, flat pale roofs to hot dry climates, dark pitched roofs to northern Europe.
- Water: the shape of a coast, a river or a harbour is often the strongest clue.
- Sports grounds: football pitches, cricket ovals and baseball diamonds tell you which sports, and so which countries, you're over.
